I love sweet chili sauce. In fact, I would put it in my top three favorite condiments list. I do not, however, love these new Doritos.

There is almost no sweet flavor, it's mainly just a burning spice, habenero, possibly. If you like things really spicy, you would enjoy these. If you are looking for the sweet chili sauce flavor, well, it's just not there.

L-R in the picture are the five flavors of Chocolate Skittles - S'Mores, Vanilla, Chocolate Caramel, Chocolate Pudding, and Brownie Batter.

Chocolate Skittles. The name alone should have made me think twice about trying these. I don't think anyone has been able to create a good-tasting artificial chocolate flavor yet, and Skittles will definitely not be the first.

The "best" flavor, not surprisingly, is the vanilla. Probably because it doesn't have a chocolate flavor. Thumbs down to this product.

Mint Crisp m&m's are worth trying. I wasn't fond of the regular crispy m&m's, but I do enjoy these mint ones.

there's more to seeCollapse )

The A&W Root Beer Float beverage was reviewed here.

Unfortunately, the Sunkist Orange Float is just as disappointing.

Despite the fun packaging, the flavor is flat and lacking zing.

Since I had purchased a 4-pack, I decided to use one as a cupcake flavor enhancerCollapse )

Grape - I was expecting this to taste kind of like grape soda-flavor, but it tastes exactly like wine. I don't like wine, so yuck! Texture-wise, a normal KitKat. It was packaged in a box with two packages, each package contains two sticks joined together. Same amount of KitKat as a US bar, just packaged differently. And much more attractively, I think.

What flavor would you guess that was from the packaging? It looks like a pile of salt, right? Well, it is! It's called "salty white chocolate" and oh my gosh, it was amazing. There is just a hint of salt that zings your tastebuds, and then the white chocolate creaminess comes along. This is probably the best candy bar I've ever had. Again, beautiful packaging.

I tried an experiment with the Ghiardelli white chocolate squares from a few posts back. I sprinkled them with kosher salt and it was a fairly decent reproduction of the taste. I think I am going to add salt to other candy and see what happens!

A&W has two new products out, a Float with root beer and a Float with Orange (think Creamsicle). However, I think they are a total disaster.

I've only tried the root beer flavor. There is no carbonation in the soda, and the cream flavor is just a thick, sticky mess. Imagine you had a root beer float where the ice cream and the soda melted together, and then you drank it at room temperature. The reality still tastes worse than that.

Pouring it over ice, adding seltzer water, I really don't think anything could improve it and it should just disappear.

Lemon creme and Orange creme Hershey Kisses.

These are white chocolate swirled with either lemon or orange creme. I really liked the lemon flavor, it cut through the sweetness of the white chocolate perfectly. (I am not a big white chocolate fan, at all.) The orange flavor was just ok. I think orange works better with dark chocolate.

Ghiardelli Sublime White Vanilla Dream

The addition of actual vanilla bits helped this one tremendously. If it were plain white chocolate, I wouldn't have looked twice.

Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffle with White Cream

It was not white chocolate inside, it was a very smooth white cream. These were by far the best of the Easter basket bunch.

Wildly Cherry M&Ms

I tried these recently. I am wondering though if they are the same thing as these, only in new packaging? I thought they were decent, not my favorite. The fake cherry flavor leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.

Strawberry Dark Chocolate Hershey Kisses

These are solid dark chocolate, not like the mint creme or cocoa creme-filled kind. They have a very strong strawberry scent, and again, a fairly decent flavor, but after more than about two you will start saying yuck. (I don't have a pic of the package unfortunately - ironically, it was damaged by a leaky carton of real strawberries.)

I also recently tried the Reese's Elvis pack, peanut butter and banana cups. They were so delicious! I normally prefer the minis; they have a thicker chocolate bottom coating than the regular size. If they made a mini banana version, oh that would be heaven.

Back around Valentine's Day, I tried the all-green package of M&Ms. Right before I tried them, I had read that American chocolate companies are reducing the amount of cocoa/chocolate they use, replacing it with artificial ingredients. I don't know if it was the power of suggestion, but I thought the green package had a distinct lack of chocolately flavor.

(Mod, I didn't see anything about in the user info about lj-cuts. If you'd like me to use one, I can fix it.)

Back in December, I lucked into sampling one of these. I posted about it in my food community. I just found this community and thought you guys might appreciate it here too.

Snickers Chai and Coconut.
